Argentan (1967-1996), was 1994 Hanoverian Stallion of the Year. Argentan was one of the last sons of the famous Absatz to stand at stud. Argentan's offspring earned him high indices in both dressage and jumping. Argentan has produced 3 national champion broodmares.
Argentan was called 'Celle's best civil servant', because he is one of the very few stallions that is able to pass onto his offspring a series of qualities in their entirety. Argentan represented character (no vices, dependable, never sick), a strong constitution, a correct exterior, as well as a willingness and ability to perform.
Geronimo is the sire of many Top 5 CSHA Futurity Winners. Out of his first foal crop he presented the Champion at the Alberta CSHA Foal Futurity. His offspring continue to inherit size, his quiet willing temperament, trainability, rideability, fantastic movement and jumping ability. Geronimo was the Top Score of his two day CSHA Stallion Inspection under three judges with an overall score of 78.05%. Geronimo's sire GLORIEUX, was Champion of his Stallion Licensing in Oldenburg 1987, Reserve Champion at the Performance Test Adelheidsdorf Germany, German National Riding Horse Champion 1988, and then went to stud unbeaten in the show ring in 1989. Geronimo's dam Argentina has produced many successful show horses who compete in Germany and Austria up to the Grand Prix Level Dressage. She is by Hanoverian Stallion of the Year ( 1994 ) ARGENTAN, who also sired Aramis, World Cup Winner in Show Jumping with Canadian Rider Mario Deslauriers.
GLORIEUX, was Champion of his Stallion Licensing in Oldenburg 1987, Reserve Champion at the Performance Test Adelheidsdorf Germany, German National Riding Horse Champion 1988, and then went to stud unbeaten in the show ring in 1989. At his Stallion Performance Test 1989 at Adelheisdorf, he scored139.03 in Dressage and 114.98 in Jumping receiving outstanding marks in nearly every aspect as he scored 9 or better 8 times.
No less than 35 advanced show jumpers make Goldstern a leading sire of competition horses today. Of his younger crops Glorieux, the Oldenburg champion stallion of 1987, German Riding Horse champion of 1988 and reserve champion of the 1989 stallion performance test, is without a doubt his most popular descendant. The approved stallion Goldfurst is successfully competing in dressage up to Grand Prix level in the USA.
Gardestern who died early but is yet a leading sire of jumping horses in Germany. Gardestern had three sons in the State Stud, one of whom, Glueckstern unfortunately died in 1987 after standing only three years. Glueckstern won his stallion licensing and the 1989 licensing nearly belonged to him. Four of his sons were licensed and two were taken in the first lot by the State Stud. There are also very high hopes for the Gardestern sons Gimpel and Goldfasan.
Gotthard is truly one of the greats. For seven years he was the leading sire of showjumpers in Germany and his influence continues to the present day. During his time he sired over 34 licensed stallion sons. Goldstern , Goldberg, Gardestern, Goldpilz, and Godehard were all influential.
Gotthard was also influential as a mare sire and he was responsible for 26 States Premium mares.
Gotthard was by Goldfisch II who was the sire of nine licensed stallion sons. Goldfisch II descends from the nineteenth century Thoroughbred sire, Goldschaum. Goldfisch II had a reputation for producing beautiful horses and good movers.
It was not until Gotthard’s daughter, Goldika (out of a Mecklenburg mare with no papers) started her sensational jumping career with Gert Wiltfang that the breeders found him so attractive. Eventually he was to produce over fifty horses to compete internationally and when in 1975, a list of top stallions was published, Gotthard was number one in terms of prize money won. Eventually his competing progeny numbered 398, with earnings of almost two million deutschmarks.

Worms - States Premium Mare. “Class winner and overall reserve champion at the 1968 DLG.” Offspring include important Hanoverian stallions and champion mares.
WENDEKREIS, 1967-1991, B 170cm Hanoverian. [310416967]. “Regarded as one of the most influential stallions of the past few decades and is well known as a producer of riding horses with excellent trainability”. Sired 35 approved stallions, incl. 1982 Hanoverian Horse of the Year Werther, several good mares, incl. DLG mare
Werther is a 16.1 hand (166cm) chestnut Hanoverian stallion born in 1973. He was the very first stallion honored by the title "Hanoverian Stallion of the Year" in 1992 and has certainly proven his ability to sire performance and breeding horses treasured for their athleticism, soundness, versatility and personality. Werther is by the great Hanoverian stallion, Wendekreis, from whom he gets strength, bone and jumping ability. From his Marcio xx damline, Werther inherits his wonderful movement. Werther's progeny are proof of his ability to pass on top performance qualities. As of 1999 his offspring had won over 2 million DM in competitions. 41 of his sons have been licensed. 90 of his mares have achieved the prestigious States Premium Mare title.
Widukind was imported to Canada and approved by the CHSA in the fall of 1993. A serious injury as a yearling limited his career as a riding horse, but it had little impact on his development as one of the premier breeding stallions in Alberta and neighbouring provinces. By the end of his too short breeding career Widukind had left behind a legacy of close to 40 registered Canadian Sport Horse offspring. He reliably sired good-looking horses with strong, well-balanced conformation and outstanding temperaments, talented for all disciplines.
Many of Widukind's offspring placed well in the CHSA futurities over the years and continue to compete successfully in both dressage and jumping. In 2000, his 6 year old son Where's Waldo became AHHS Modified Jumper Reserve Champion. The former CWHBA Auction horse Wilken by Widukind was 2000 Basic IV and 2001 Medium III Champion of BC. Daughter Waydigo, out of Ballerina II, became 2001 Champion Mare in Alberta.

ABSATZ, 1960-1982, Ch 16.1h Hanoverian. [310405260]. Modern Hanoverian foundation sire, credited for their beauty and gaits, sired many famous stallions, over 40 Approved sons, 68 states premium mares, 605 competition horses and 142 Verden auction horses.
